The Challenge: Needed Efficient Technology To Manage Incoming Data

CareFlight uses data-driven insights to save lives. The company sought to integrate their data from external (flight) and internal medical databases to create a dynamic data warehouse at low cost.

CareFlight wanted to promote self-service business intelligence (BI) culture to improve operations and to allow users to explore data relationships. Additionally, CareFlight needed to fulfill their reporting obligations to the Australian NT Government on the delivery of the rescue service.

The Solution: Pentaho Business Analytics

Hitachi Vantara’s big data integration and analytics solution extracts data from flight transports and patient care. Hitachi Vantara’s Pentaho Business Analytics provides self-service reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs). Pentaho gives internal and end users data-driven insights to lower costs and to drive revenue. Additionally, the solution has the ability of to maintain patient privacy, even in a transparent real-time reporting environment. Using the Pentaho solution, CareFlight introduced their product to the market in only six weeks.

The Outcome: CareFlight Saves More Lives With the Help of Technology

Because of the low total cost of ownership and open source development model of Hitachi Vantara’s Pentaho platform, CareFlight reduced spending and improved engagement with key stakeholders. Furthermore, they improved their data warehouse through Pentaho Data Integration. CareFlight plans to further scale and include new data in their data warehouse, while continuing to innovate in the health informatics space.
