NextRadio wanted to provide new data insights on radio interactions by station, ad, song, promotion, or by the image on screen. They also wanted to share these insights in near real time. This would lead them to deliver an actionable analytics portal to radio broadcasters to show the real-time data accessible inside NextRadio, such as tracking plays, listens, visual impressions and interactions, which are then tied to demographic data. This provides a demonstrable proof of performance for brands running advertising campaigns on the NextRadio app.

The Solution: Pentaho Business Analytics, Pentaho Data Integration

Hitachi Vantara provides next-generation interactive reporting and dashboards to be offered to clients as a white-labeled solution built on Pentaho and hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. Rebranded and embedded Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Business Analytics inside a customer insights portal allows users to dynamically visualize trends for aggregate listening performance.

While Hitachi Vantara's Pentaho Data Integration powers all of NextRadio's ETL needs, the company still needed a storage solution. At NextRadio, Pentaho is now tightly integrated with Amazon's Relational Database Service (RDS) and S3 storage solutions with their cross-platform data warehouse, leveraging the full capabilities of REST API reporting and analysis services.

Hitachi Vantara provided an OEM partnership that matched NextRadio's business model and existing pricing strategy. The full range of embeddable analytics and ETL capabilities fulfill the data needs of NextRadio's customers and partners. Finally, Pentaho was able to align with NextRadio's existing multitenant data infrastructure. This includes product and station permissions for users, as well as shared roll-up benchmarks.

The Outcome: An Upgrade to Real-time Production-Quality Analytics

NextRadio delivers a new advertising platform that stations can sell along with their on-air spot to create a new revenue stream for broadcasters. NextRadio will also offer advanced analytic insights to broadcasters and advertisers.
