Hitachi Data Systems Expands Footprint into West Bengal

Opens office in Kolkata to cater to the growing demand in the East

Bangalore, August 24, 2011: Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd.(NYSE: HIT / TSE: 6501) today announced its expansion into the eastern region by opening an office in Kolkata to better serve the growing storage and data management needs of enterprise customers in this market. The rapid growth of the manufacturing and IT sectors in the state has given rise to exponential data growth, and the company sees huge potential for its storage solutions in the region.

Kolkata has emerged as an extremely lucrative investment destination with one of the fastest growing economies in the country. Apart from the public utility and large manufacturing industries, the state has seen rapid growth in IT infrastructure, with several large SEZs and IT parks being developed to house the eastern operations of global and Indian IT firms that have set up hubs in Kolkata.
