My journey at Hitachi Vantara

I joined Hitachi Vantara 14 years ago and was part of the new Shared Services Centre in Poland. The office hadn’t even opened yet, but I remember my very first day, a group of 15 new employees met at the airport, flew over to London for 3 days of intensive training. All new, all excited to join this organization that was new in Poland.

What attracted me to Hitachi Vantara was what the company does and the positive impact Hitachi, as a parent company, has on society. I wanted to work for a company that has a meaningful impact on the world and be able to contribute to that.

Being part of a new team and set up, it was a real challenge. We were learning, developing, and building the Shared Services Center; we were under the spotlight, and it was important how we performed to the success of the center. 14 years later, we are now a team of over 400 people, which is amazing, with many departments (finance, IT, HR, Business), supporting HV, globally. We’ve gone through huge transformation as a global organization, and my career has progressed, I’ve moved roles and been given many opportunities.

My current role

I’ve recently moved into a new role; we are developing robotics to automate HV business processes. As we continue to evolve, I see automation and robotics becoming a key factor in our future work. Thanks to robotics process automation, we can limit the mundane, ‘copy/ paste’ tasks, so our employees can focus on the value-added activities and progress with their career and overall knowledge.  

A memorable moment from my Hitachi career

When I look back over the last 14 years, I feel proud of the work I’ve done and what I achieved. Knowing that I’ve contributed to lots of great change feels incredible. Our business has changed so rapidly, new products, new ways of working with customers, new services we offer – in my role I help develop changes in processes so we can be efficient, grow our capabilities and continue to learn. Through change we all grow on a professional and personal level, and it keeps things interesting.

What’s unique about the local team

We work hard in Poland, have a great open culture and a very supportive environment. We work with many colleagues around the world in a collaborative way. Although, we are a global company with over 11,000 employees, our business feels unique and our powerful mission to help society to live better is important to people. It’s not just about selling products to clients, it's working in a way that benefits society and has real impact.
