Hitachi Data Systems Appointed to State Government Cloud Services Panel
New model empowers departments and agencies to move from building and operating ICT solutions to improving business service delivery
Sydney – 5 February, 2015 – Hitachi Data Systems today announced it has been appointed to the Queensland Government’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) panel.
As disruptive technologies continue to change the way organisations interact in a data-driven economy, the new panel paves the way for government departments and agencies to take full advantage of cloud computing, without the previous time and cost barriers associated with self-managed IT.
The panel is a direct result of the Queensland Government’s cloud-first policy, and will consist of a number of pre-verified vendors from which public cloud services can be procured. This process means projects can be up and running three to six months faster, as pre-selection assessment requirements are significantly reduced. The new model will also enable organisations to realign their in-house ICT capability from building and operating ICT solutions to improving business service delivery.
“Hitachi Data Systems is delighted with our appointment to the Queensland Government’s IaaS panel,” said XX, Hitachi Data Systems. “Our relationship with the Queensland Government spans more than two decades, supporting business critical applications. And we have a long heritage of working with other state and federal departments and agencies. The selection is testament to our deep level of experience in this sector and understanding of its unique needs and requirements.”
Other key benefits of the new model will include efficiency improvements, more effective technology upgrades, greater flexibility to adopt ‘fit for purpose’ ICT systems, scalability on demand, lower costs and no capital investment required.
Hitachi Data Systems, along with other panel vendors will offer virtual machine (VM) compute, storage and network capacity delivered in a public multitenant cloud environment with multiple grades of service. They will provide a self-managed delivery model, including a fully operational infrastructure environment to the operating system layer, where business applications can be deployed.
