Hitachi Data Systems Appoints Bill Porteous to Lead Managed Services Engagement

National Client Services Manager to Promote Cloud Business Through Key Services Partnerships

AUSTRALIA — October 9, 2013 — Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501), today announced the appointment of Bill Porteous as national client services manager responsible for managed services delivery for Australia and New Zealand. The appointment reinforces the company’s focus on delivering secure, dependable solutions to major managed service providers (MSP) and enterprise customers to capitalise on the growing demand for infrastructure as a service (IaaS).

Based in Sydney, Porteous will have primary responsibility for the delivery of Hitachi Data Systems managed services solutions as well as managing executive relationships across key enterprise accounts. Porteous joins Hitachi Data Systems from Vodafone Hutchison Australia, where he held positions including head of enterprise IT and head of outsource strategy and governance. While at Vodafone, he developed and executed a strategy to drive value from major multi-year outsourcing agreements.

Porteous has more than 20 years of industry experience. Prior to his tenure at Vodafone Hutchison Australia, he held senior management roles at EDS in Australia and New Zealand and IBM GSA in the United Kingdom.
