Hitachi Data Systems Grows Presence in New Zealand With New Business Manager

Industry Veteran Mark van der Wat Spearheads NZ Market Expansion, Capitalising on Cloud and Big Data Market Opportunities

NEW ZEALAND - March 20, 2013 - Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501), today announced the appointment of Mark van der Wat as the New Zealand business manager.

With responsibilities for growing the company’s business across direct and indirect channels, van der Wat will focus on enterprise and mid-market organisations in New Zealand, working with customers looking to drive value from HDS cloud and big data solutions. Based in Wellington and reporting to Anthony Clarke, commercial sales director for Australia and New Zealand, van der Wat will also be in charge of partner liaisons, including planning and executing partner programs and driving brand awareness for Hitachi Data Systems in the mid-market.

Van der Wat joins the company with over 20 years of experience in the IT industry, including previous roles at Quest Software, Cisco and Hewlett Packard.
