Just two weeks ago, I shared the exciting news that Hitachi Vantara and Hitachi Consulting will unite in January to accelerate digital value creation for our customers and partners and unlock new synergies across the greater Hitachi Group. The news has been incredibly well received and we are excited by the positive response the announcement has generated around the world.

By coupling Hitachi Consulting and Hitachi Vantara, we are strengthening our ability to deliver what our customers demand: comprehensive digital solutions. Today, I am pleased to share how we will structure the new business to bring it all together.

Beginning in January of 2020, we will organize Hitachi Vantara into two focused lines of business: Digital Infrastructure and Digital Solutions. Both of these units will play a crucial role in expanding Hitachi’s global digital business and market share.

In order to help ensure our success, I am pleased to announce two key executive appointments that will provide the leadership and focus to build and accelerate our Digital Infrastructure and Digital Solutions innovation engines and provide expanded growth opportunities for the company:

  • Brian Householder, President, Digital Infrastructure

In the two years since Hitachi Vantara was launched, Brian has played a vital role in building it into the data intelligence company it is today. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of innovative data infrastructure, data governance and managed services that will help organizations unlock the full value of their data from edge to core to cloud.

  • Brad Surak, President, Digital Solutions

For the past two years, Brad has helped to bolster innovation across Hitachi Vantara’s growing portfolio and grow its leadership in key markets, like data management, object storage and IIoT. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving the global expansion of our digital solutions, increasing our alignment with Hitachi’s vertical business units, and expanding our global delivery and co-creation capabilities.

In addition to Brian and Brad, I am also excited to share one more piece of news: In January, Hicham Abdessamad, currently the CEO of Hitachi Consulting and Deputy General Manager of Hitachi’s Social Innovation Business, has been appointed the Chairman of Hitachi America, Ltd. In addition to this role, he will also be the Chief Executive of Hitachi Global Social Innovation Business, Hitachi,Ltd., leading this strategic function for Hitachi. The Global SIB team will work closely with the combined organization and its Digital Infrastructure and Digital Solutions lines of business to help drive Hitachi’s social innovation initiatives.

Please join me in congratulating Brian, Brad and Hicham on their new appointments and keep your eyes and ears open for more exciting updates to come.
