Tony Gonnella

Tony Gonnella is Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Hitachi Vantara. He assumed the additional title of Executive Officer in April 2026. In this role, he plays a key part in advancing the company’s strategy and overall business results, bringing financial and governance rigor to its growth efforts. He oversees investment decisions, resource allocation and organizational spend, while refining the company’s operating model to strengthen scalability and competitiveness. He also serves on the Hitachi Vantara Executive Committee.

Gonnella leads the Finance, IT, and Transformation organizations and directs pricing and deal governance, integrated business analytics, and enterprise operational strategy. He partners closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to design corporate management frameworks and deliver data-driven recommendations. He also works across the business to help influence innovation priorities, guide go-to-market models, and shape strategic alignment. This ensures that business activities are closely linked to long-term value creation.

Since joining Hitachi Vantara in 2023, Tony has brought more than 25 years of expertise and a strategic, analytical approach to continuous improvement. During this time, he has strengthened financial operations, enhanced governance practices, and helped shape the company’s strategic direction and performance focus. His areas of expertise also include financial planning, management reporting, corporate budgeting, P&L management, financial analysis, and ERP implementation.

Prior to joining Hitachi Vantara, Gonnella served as CFO of Cortex and Unit 42 at Palo Alto Networks, where he shaped the financial strategy for the company’s fast-growing SaaS product suite and cyber-risk services. He has led finance teams at global organizations, including NetApp, NetScout Systems, Network General, and McAfee Associates.

Tony earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California.
