Challenge: Improve Slow Application Performance and increase Data Protection

Badan POM, is an Indonesian FDA that regulates the country’s registration and distribution of drugs and food including cosmetics and health supplements, resulting in large data storage requirements.

It’s legacy system caused Badan POM to experience slow system performance which meant that longer lead times were needed to process license applications Additionally, without adequate data protection, Badan POM was putting its data and the business at risk.

Implementing Hitachi’s solutions enabled us to consolidate and improve how we managed our data.

Solution: Consolidate and Protect With Hitachi Solutions

Badan POM consolidated data on two Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G600 (VSP G600) systems, using Brocade 16GB/s Fibre Channel for SAN networking. 

To improve data protection, Badan POM implemented Hitachi Universal Replicator (HUR), which provides fast and efficient replication of small or large data volumes. It can help manage tight recovery point objective (RPO) times and supports asynchronous replication across multiple data centers.

Outcome: Speedy Performance, Simplified Data Management

By consolidating data onto Hitachi VSP G600 systems, Badan POM was able to simplify its data management requirements. The full solution combined Hitachi storage with HUR for data protection, to help prevent loss or duplication of data. The solution also enabled Badan POM to consolidate and create a single disaster recovery (DR) solution.

With faster, more reliable systems, Badan POM can now respond much more quickly to applications for licenses, enhancing efficiencies and improving customer service.
