Head of IoT & Industrial Cloud Practice addresses: How are customers realizing value from the cloud? It is no longer an “either / or” architecture where enterprises either execute use cases on cloud or keep their use cases on outcomes through to the edge. Rather, its about executing uses between cloud and the edge so that there is a continuum. Customers can now enjoy both and see how their use cases are orchestrated and extracted through industrial players like Hitachi, working collaboratively with AWS. Enterprises are able to optimize their business outcomes at scale, with partnerships of Hitachi Vantara and AWS. VP of Digital & Cloud Modernization addresses: Can I have the same experience on cloud, on prem, cross cloud, hybrid or other out to the edge scenarios? Hear how our experts talk about cloud not just being a hosting platform; but the platform from which Enterprises draw out business capabilities. Hear how Hitachi Vantara can enable resilience and automation into the cloud for agility, performance and cost effectiveness, and truly delivering industrial outcomes, building upon your cloud investments.

Striving for operational excellence within process manufacturing can be grueling work. Paper tracking is still common across the industry, especially in regulated processes, making it incredibly challenging to mine and analyze data for improvement opportunities. In addition, hiring and retaining operators who require considerable expertise is a perpetual challenge. And, as with all industries, reducing operating costs, improving time-to-market for new products, and manufacturability can become major hurdles for the chemical manufacturer. Compounding these complexities is the sheer volume of chemicals that are manufactured annually. One estimate suggests there are over 350,000 chemicals and chemical mixtures in commercial use, including 85,000 that are considered toxic requiring additional regulatory and safety needs. Considering these interconnected and increasingly complex challenges, operational agility is hard to come by. There is hope, however, and it is in the form of exciting new access to digital innovations. Our speakers discuss how Process Digital Twins and Predictive Quality are catalyzing operational results.

IT complexities compromise the availability and performance of enterprise applications. Veritas and Hitachi Vantara solves this challenge by automating IT continuity across all platforms and operating systems, enabling applications to perform at their best and achieve “Always On” for their business.“Always on” is standard operating procedure today. Organizations cannot afford downtime and disruption without losing revenue, customers, and momentum. In addition to local and remote replication, IT builds in clustering and multi-pathing so that they can not only recover data, but also fail over to another component non-disruptively. However, ESG research reveals the difficulty of achieving these objectives. Only 22% of research respondents reported that they always achieve their recovery SLAs. Furthermore, 35% report that they can only tolerate less than one hour of downtime for their applications, and yet 68% of respondents reported experiencing an outage of at least one hour in the past year. There is a clear disconnect between what organizations need and what they are able to achieve. In this session, ESG analyst Vinny Choinski is joined by Paul Romero and Federick Brillantes from Hitachi Vantara, and Doug Snyder from Veritas Technologies, to take a closer look at the latest research that addresses how businesses can become data smart and maintain an ‘Always On’ mentality. Cloud is often viewed as the infrastructure of choice and cloud-native as the application modernization destination of choice. The truth is that both present a complex reality for organizations worldwide. While using multiple clouds and cloud-native application ensures choice and flexibility, it also creates operational challenges. A 451 study shows that 46% of all workloads will run on-premises predominantly using “refractor and shift” or “modernized” approach. So, how do you run traditional applications in a hybrid, multi-cloud environment? How do you find the right balance between cost savings and investments in modern platforms to support application modernization?By 2025, more than 85% of global organizations will be running containerized applications in production, which is a significant increase from fewer than 35% in 2019.In the second in a series of discussions on modernizing the digital core we discuss:
• The use of hybrid- and multi-cloud strategies to modernize the data center.
• An existing need for cloud-native applications using containers and microservices.

A desire for greater flexibility, efficiency, and cost savings is driving organizations to rethink their approach to technology delivery. The result is hybrid, cloud-focused, and as-a-service based. By reducing the need to own IT equipment and maintain technology in-house, organizations are freeing up resources to transform the way they operate IT and deliver new services. All of which has implications for an organization’s culture and skillset demands. In the first in a series of discussions, Hitachi Vantara’s Tom Christensen will make the case for a ‘Modernize the Core’ philosophy, explaining how this Everything-as-a-Service model works in practical terms – how it applies to application, data, and infrastructure modernization; and what it means for the IT department in the short-, medium, and long-term.By reducing the need to own IT equipment and maintain technology in-house, organizations are freeing up resources to transform the way they operate IT and deliver new services. Electric Cars Are Coming, and Fast. General Motors announced this year that they plan to exclusively offer electric vehicles by 2035, ending production of its cars, trucks and SUVs with diesel- and gas-powered engines. This would be possible by using batteries that could give vehicles a range of 450 miles and battery costs at a 60% less costs by the middle of this decade bringing EVs closer to cost parity with gas powered vehicles. Other Auto makers are also making advances in EV and battery technologies, which are quickly eroding the objections to electric vehicles. This massive change will have enormous impact on the ability of utilities to support the demand for electricity, especially in the United States where EVs make up only 1% of the vehicles on the road today.Join this live panel to find out what are the trends in EV Adoption and how the infrastructure will emerge. The need for more insightful, more inclusive, faster data analytics will explode. For example, we will have wireless chargers embedded in the road, much like the induction loops embedded today that monitor traffic lights.

Practical Steps for the IT Executive.Remaining competitive in the modern financial world requires staying ahead of increasingly sophisticated financial crimes and fluid regulations across multiple jurisdictions. Simply monitoring sanctions lists is no longer an option. Financial institutions must be able to generate a complete picture of each entity they onboard. At the same time, standard AML systems generate a high proportion of false positives – estimated at 80% to 90% of alerts – creating bottlenecks, adding risk and annoying customers. In fact, one study showed that 12% of corporations had changed banks because of KYC issues.Addressing these challenges requires new strategies and innovative technologies that enable real-time risk profiling and continuous KYC. Financial institutions can leverage machine learning and data automation to improve compliance, reduce risk, streamline operations and keep their customers happy. In this webinar we will discuss:
•How evolving regulations and increasingly sophisticated threats drive AML complexity.
•Innovative technologies, from AI to blockchain to biometrics, that help financial institutions stay one step ahead of financial criminals.
•What steps firms can take today to leverage the power of machine learning and maximize the value of their data.
•How banks can de-risk their customer onboarding while maintaining best-in-class customer service.

Copy Data Management promises to not only improve the data protection process, it promises to provide value to the organization even without a looming disaster. It can reduce storage costs by presenting virtual copies of data to test/dev, analytics and reporting. It also can make sure those copies are refreshed so those use cases are always dealing with the latest copy of data. Join Storage Switzerland and Hitachi Vantara for our live panel discussion where we will show how copy data management better protects the organization and makes protection more than an insurance policy by adding value to the organization. We’ll show how Copy Data Management can reduce the cost of storage throughout the data center while at the same time improving processes like test/dev, analytics and reporting. Finally we’ll also explain why copy data management solutions may actually be better at protection since they store data in its native form, enabling it to be recovered more quickly. The webinar will also include a live demo of Hitachi’s Data Instance Director. See Copy Data Management in action!

Hitachi Vantara is focused on enabling organizations to unlock the full value of data by leveraging dynamic pseudonymisation to enable data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital transformation. The GDPR imposes lesser obligations and liabilities when technical and organizational measures are put into place as safeguards to protect the fundamental rights of data subject. You can achieve many business objectives associated with data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital transformation by separating the information value of data – on the one hand – from the risk of re-identification – on the other hand, by leveraging GDPR compliant pseudonymisation.
