Ayman Abouelwafa

Chief Technology Officer

Ayman Abouelwafa is the Chief Technology Officer for Hitachi Vantara, responsible for identifying and evaluating emerging technologies and developing and executing a strategic and forward-looking technology roadmap that aligns with the business strategy. As a nearly 30-year storage and technology veteran, he is successful at driving the commercialization of technologies and intellectual property, managing strategic research, and leading advanced development programs focused on next-generation data storage platforms and cloud software.

Externally, Ayman is helping to broadly evangelize company technology and pressing topics in the industry. He is also closely collaborating with technology leaders across Hitachi to align perspectives, amplify Hitachi’s voice, and represent our One Hitachi differentiation in the market. Bringing innovative technical solutions and identifying industry and technology trends that shape technology and business strategies, Ayman is a tremendous addition to the Hitachi Vantara Executive Committee team.

Prior to joining Hitachi, he was an HPE Fellow and the Chief Technology Officer of the HPE’s Storage Division. During his time at HPE, he held several leadership roles, Chief Technologist and lead architect roles in multiple business groups covering a wide range of storage technologies.

Ayman has multiple patents and publications covering a variety of storage systems architecture and technologies. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer control, a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering & computer engineering, and a Master of Business Administration.

Based in California, Ayman lives with his two children. When not working, he can be found on the endless hiking trails of the Sierra Mountain foothills. He is also an active community volunteer and is on the board of directors of local non-profit organizations.
