Chris Leslie
General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer
Chris Leslie is responsible for the Hitachi Vantara legal and compliance department, including ethics and business conduct, global trade compliance and global security services.
Leslie joined Hitachi in 2004 and had more than 11 years of increasingly senior positions at Sun Microsystems, primarily in the international legal arena. Before Sun Microsystems, Leslie was vice president and general counsel of Everex Systems in Fremont, California. He spent five years in the 1980s working in Hong Kong for the international law firm of McKenna & Co. (now Cameron McKenna). Leslie is admitted to practice law in England and Wales, Hong Kong and California.
In 2010 Leslie received the Regulatory Lawyer of the Year (non-financial sector) award by the International Law Office/Association of Corporate Counsel. In 2011, 2012 and 2013, Leslie was named by the Ethisphere Institute, a global independent compliance think-tank, as one of the Attorneys Who Matter. The award is given to the best individuals in a wide range of legal disciplines, from compliance specialists and in-house counsel to federal agencies, to the most accomplished ethics and compliance officers of major companies.
