Capacity on Demand
Pay as you grow
Capacity on Demand (COD), a core part of Hitachi EverFlex, is a scalable pay-for-use model that enables you to access additional IT infrastructure capacity when you need it.

Hitachi provides you with a baseline system (hardware, software, and support), which also includes an amount of incremental buffer capacity based on our projected growth.
Usage is measured and reported monthly. If you have used more than the baseline, you are charged at an agreed-on price per unit.
Avoid the risk of business disruption and downtime with immediate access to extra capacity for emergency or unplanned growth.
Respond quickly to unpredictable growth in the demands of operating departments and users.
Your payments for the Capacity on Demand service can be tailored to meet your budget and cash-flow requirements.
Cut out the time, cost, and complexity of procurement and delivery processes as extra capacity is already available when you need it
Capacity is closely mapped onto actual usage, so waste is eliminated, and total costs are reduced. Planned refresh cycles also ensure optimum future consolidation.
Capacity on Demand is a flexible capacity on demand model that combines a customer owned base system with Hitachi provided expansion capacity that’s available instantly when you need it. You purchase a defined baseline configuration, then access additional storage capacity on demand without waiting for new hardware orders or contract changes. You only pay for the additional capacity when it is consumed, helping you grow confidently while keeping costs predictable.
Capacity on Demand eliminates the need to buy excess capacity upfront “just in case.” Instead of over investing in unused storage, you maintain a right sized baseline with a pre approved expansion buffer. This reduces capital tied up in idle resources while ensuring capacity is immediately available when demand increases—so performance and availability are never at risk.
Yes. Capacity on Demand is designed specifically for organizations that prefer CapEx ownership but still need flexibility. The base system is purchased upfront to support accounting, compliance, and procurement requirements, while the on demand buffer allows growth within existing budgets and contracts. This approach avoids new tenders, emergency approvals, and contract resets as capacity needs change.
Capacity on Demand is built on the VSP One platform and includes enterprise grade guarantees for availability and performance. With capacity always available, customers avoid downtime, performance degradation, and procurement delays when workloads grow. Optional services such as monitoring, reporting, and lifecycle support further reduce operational risk and improve long term reliability.
Capacity on Demand supports optional non disruptive controller and software upgrades during the life of the system. This allows you to stay current with new technology and security enhancements without forcing migrations or forklift refreshes. The result is a modern, scalable storage platform that adapts as your business evolves—without introducing complexity or disruption.
