Although many enterprises are at varying stages in their cloud journeys, most are adopting distributed mixes of on-premises and public cloud environments in order to maintain certain data and applications close by, while making others more accessible and available online. With such distributed cloud networks, core tenants of the enterprise, such as management, scalability and security, become increasingly challenging. There is a path forward, however. Hitachi Vantara set out to help organizations overcome these challenges and more with our latest introduction of cloud-ready infrastructure and data solutions.

Hybrid Cloud Platform with VMware Tanzu

Kubernetes is fast becoming the new standard for application development and deployment for portability, scale, and improved economics. Unlocking the full benefits of Kubernetes technology requires new skills and processes across the continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline. The new Kubernetes stack needs to blend with the existing tools and infrastructure, or else it risks creating silos.  A cloud-native development ecosystem introduces new security issues on top of maintaining existing security challenges.

Our software-defined integrated cloud infrastructure solution, Hitachi Unified Compute Platform RS (UCP RS), now natively supports the VMware Tanzu portfolio. UCP RS accelerates and simplifies cloud-native application development and management. The new hybrid cloud solution provides a unified platform to deploy apps on virtual machines (VMs) or Kubernetes containers while providing a consistent management experience. Customers benefit from end-to-end life-cycle management, from Kubernetes layer to VMware vSphere to underlying hardware infrastructure, using Hitachi’s hardware service manager and native integration with vSphere Life Cycle Manager (vLCM). UCP RS brings the VM admin and Kubernetes admin teams closer, providing an integrated management stack for operational efficiency in a DevOps environment.

Besides providing a common platform for VM and Kubernetes orchestration and deployment, UCP RS enables seamless workload mobility across data center and public clouds while leveraging hyperconverged infrastructure or external SAN for storage purposes, as shown in the demo here.

Performance Boost with Modern Intel Components

Hitachi converged infrastructure customers get a performance boost with newly introduced server series and industry-leading Intel Ice Lake CPUs. Extending the partnership with Intel, we’re rolling out Intel Ice Lake CPUs and the next-gen Optane NVMe SSDs across the converged and hyperconverged portfolio. New Intel processors deliver higher performance and lower power consumption. UCP converged and hyperconverged solutions with modern processors enhance the performance of latency-critical applications and improve resource utilization.

Integrated Database Platform

Modern organizations rely on data-driven engineering to uncover insights and correlations that accelerate innovation and enhance customer and employee loyalty. They rely on a scalable relational database, automation of database services, and a powerful rock-solid IT foundation, either on premises or in hybrid multicloud.

Hitachi’s integrated database platform in partnership with NetIT is a pre-integrated, validated converged infrastructure with database management software for on-premises private cloud and hybrid multicloud. It delivers an orchestrated deployment and life-cycle management of databases, catalog-based services, and license compliance.

The solution provides a high-performance platform and database-as-a-service orchestration software for Oracle and other relational and NoSQL databases. It simplifies the database life cycle and cuts 50% of your database operations cost.
