President, Digital Infrastructure Business Unit, Hitachi Vantara
Bobby Soni is responsible for the strategy and business operations for the company's Digital Infrastructure business unit (DIBU). He drives the growth and innovation for Hitachi Vantara's digital infrastructure solutions, including data governance and managed services to help organizations unlock the full value of their data with an edge-to-core-to-multicloud strategy.
In his prior role as chief operating officer for the DIBU, Soni oversaw global operations and propelled a customer-driven culture across the entire DIBU value chain. He had direct global responsibility for Solution Innovation, Engineering and Development, and Services.
Soni joined Hitachi in 2016 from RMS, where he led global sales, services and operations. As chief platform and services officer, Soni was responsible for a next-generation SaaS solution platform that sits at the intersections of a vertical industry cloud, big data analytics and a near real-time decision support system.
Soni previously developed the worldwide strategy and market for industry and cloud business solutions at IBM after having served as a co-leader of global business solutions. As a member of IBM's global business services leadership team, he helped drive the industry, service line and ISV (SAP and Oracle) solution strategy, portfolio realization and go-to-market execution worldwide. He also worked closely with industry leaders to establish and execute their solution strategy and the associated portfolio of offerings. He was actively involved with early-adopter clients both in selling the vision and in helping to educate delivery teams for successful implementations.
Earlier in his career, Soni held senior-level strategic and operational positions at Webify (acquired by IBM), KPMG Consulting and its successor organization, BearingPoint, Qwest Cyber.Solutions and Softline (acquired by KPMG). He began his career at INDEC Systems, where he was the lead developer of a next-generation 3-D imaging product with a global installed base. He is also the lead inventor and holder of a U.S. patent for image processing and speckle identification in ultrasound imaging.
Soni holds a Bachelor of Science degree in instrumentation and control from Gujarat University and a Master of Engineering degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia.
